Implantology allows substituting dental elements (teeth) without rasping or filing neighbor teeth (as is done in bridge construction).

In a few words dental implantology is about placing a completely biocompatible titanium root in the bone instead of the missing root or roots.

Dental ImplantThe surgery is comprised of proper bone preparation and placement of an implant in titanium (completely biocompatible) inside the bone.

In our opinion it is anachronistic nowadays to replace missing teeth with a bridge, not only because with implantology we avoid rasping (filing) healthy teeth, but also because by placing an implant we are combatting the problem of bone reabsorbtion in the area where the teeth are missing.  Gradually bridges are becoming an obsolete method due to several negative consequences which include a compromised aesthetics as well.

It often happens that the area where the teeth are missing (and where we want to place implants) has a small amount of bone in both thickness and height.  In this case it is correct to proceed first with the bone regeneration techniques.  It will create the appropriate base suitable for receiving the implant and able to guarantee good stability.  For us good aesthetics is also of paramount importance, buy good aesthetics we mean that the final prosthetic work must perfectly camouflage with the rest of the teeth.

When indicated we practice immediate implant placement which is possible thanks to the last generation of implants with bioactive surfaces.

This is an important advantage especialy for an edentulous patient who can in one morning throw away his mobile prosthesis and begin to chew with prosthesis fixed on implants.

If the residual ridge which is formed after teeth extraction is not well-defined due to a loss of bony crest and gingival tissue, or in other situations when it is needed to improve the total prosthesis retention, it is possible (if the amount of bone allows) to perform implantological surgery and insert implants into the edentulous crest.  These implants have the anchor function for the prosthesis.

Mobile Denture Retention with Only 2 Implants

A very economical solution to improve mobile denture retention in patients with resorbed jaw crest bone. Retention achieved with only 2 implants.
