Teeth Whitening in Case of Prior Devitalization

Read More»It is necessary to perform an Endodontic treatment (remove the dental pulp) in case the cariotic decay has come near to the nerv of a tooth and is causing constant acute pain or in case of the nerv necrosis (death) due to previous treatments or decay.

In the course of Endodontic treatment the root canal (or canals) is enlarged and the dental pulp tissue (which consists of blood vessels and nerves) or necrotic tissue is eliminated. After that the canal is being disinfected (in our Clinic disinfection is obtained with dental Diode Laser). At this point the root canal is ready to be sealed. The filling material used in the Dr. Di Croce Dental Clinic is gutta-percha, a natural thermoplastic polymer, whic is melted and injected to fill the root canal passages. Modern-generation nickel-titanium instruments are used during the Endodontic treatments.
For your highest security the Root Canal Treatment in our Clinic requires the minimum of 2 visits (in teeth with the nerve alive but infected or affected by caries). In case of necrotic pulp the treatment becomes longer and requires more visits of accurate disinfection and sterilization of the root canals which previously contained the necrotic pulp.
Devitalized teeth have higher risk of fracture (especially molars and premolars), that’s why it is always advised to restore them with fixed prosthesis (crown) which guarantees higher resistance as it completely covers the tooth.
See the article “Devitalization with Laser” for information on how the Diode Laser is used in Endodontics.
