Planning your dental treatment abroad
The period of your stay in Italy to complete your treatment is determined individually.
To begin with please let us know what treatments you are interested in. It is best to communicate your request to us using the form which can be downloaded at this link: TREATMENT REQUEST FORM. You can either fill it out and send it to us by fax (+39-085-4216451) or send your answers via e-mail: info@dentaldicroce.com. It is best if you can also attach your latest dental x-rays and other support data.
We will revert to you to plan your individual treatment schedule and to communicate your treatment budget and payment terms.
General terms of dental treatments (indicative):
Conservative Dentistry
- 1st day – dental examination, consultation;
- 2nd day – professional cleaning (removing tartar) if required, conservative treatment;
- 3rd day – post-treatment control visit
Please note that in case of an Endodontic treatment your stay will become up to two days longer.
Implantology
- 1st day – dental examination, consultation, professional cleaning (removing tartar), dental imprint (for making temporary crowns);
- 2nd day – extraction of a tooth and immediate implant placement. If the tooth was extracted a long period ago (more than 6 months) it might be required to perform transplantation of the bone matrix prior to the implant placement (to compensate for the bone-loss). In some cases bone grafting may be required;
- 3rd day: post-surgical control visit, placement of the temporary crowns (you will not remain “without teeth”)
Please note that in complex cases we use the 3D Guided Implantology. In this case a specialized 3D CAD/CAM computer program is used to plan the treatment (which guarantees perfect accuracy but requires more preparation time).
It is not advised to travel long-distance in the next couple of days after an implant placement. We usually plan conservative dentistry procedures or endodontics in the days after the implant placement surgery.
Professional cleaning (removing tartar) is required before the implant placement to ensure maximum desinfection of the oral cavity. In some cases it is also required to perform laser treatment of the gums (in case of gengivitis, Piorrea).
Permanent crowns or bridges are placed on the implant after the 3-6 months healing period.
Crowns, Bridges
Usually it takes from 7 to 10 days to prepare and place the crowns/bridges:
- 1st day – dental examination, consultation, professional cleaning (removing tartar) if required, preparation of the teeth, choosing color, dental imprint;
- 4th day – trying the crowns/bridges to make necessary adjustments;
- 6th day – placing the crowns/bridges
In complex restoration more trials may be required to ensure perfect fit. Usually we can plan this beforehand.
Transport to Pescara
International airport of Pescara (Abruzzo Airport) has regular direct flights to many European cities as well as to some cities outside the European Union (London, Barcellona, Brussels, Creta, Eindhoven, Frankfurt, Oslo, Paris, Praga, Toronto etc.).
The cost of a two-way direct flight is usually from 100 to 250EUR within EU. However, it is possible to further minimize the travel expenses by choosing an indirect flight (brings the flight cost down to 40EUR for a two-way ticket).
Please see Abruzzo Airport website for more information on regular direct flights. If you are interested in cheaper flights you may like this resourse.
You might find it more convenient to fly to Rome instead of coming directly to Pescara. In this case we will be happy to provide you with the Rome-Pescara bus schedules (there are more than 5 buses parting directly from Rome Fiumicino Intl Airport and arriving directly at Pescara station after two and a half hours of delightful Italian scenery).
